Contract of Membership
- I understand that in signing this document I am accepting "Membership" (to be defined hereafter) in the wargaming club referred to as Valinor or the Kingdom of Valinor. The terms are interchangeable and both are used throughout this contract. This not for profit wargaming club is dedicated to recreational pursuits in medievalist combat and live action role playing societies. Our purpose is to participate successfully in these societies as a cohesive fighting unit. We recognizes and upholds all safety requirements in societies in which we participate, not only for our own members but for all participants.
- I understand that membership is defined as participation, active or otherwise, in the organization known as the Kingdom of Valinor. Upon obtaining membership, an individual may be classified as a member or a member of Valinor. The terms are interchangeable and both are used throughout this contract. Membership reflects not only participation, but also that the member follows the Code of Conduct defined collectively in the Constitution and updates released as amendments. These codes are outlined specifically for the protection of the group and to insure that its members have a full opportunity to enjoy their participation in the organization of the Kingdom of Valinor. These codes also insure that the organization of Valinor can successfully reenact, at least in visual representation, a medieval army.
- I understand that membership is only bestowed by the Kingdom of Valinor’s founder, Jake R. Sindelar, hereafter referred to as the "Constable." The Constable retains full rights to endow other members with the right to extend offers of membership to non-members. The Constable further retains full rights to revoke this membership at any time.
- In accepting my membership, I understand that I must adhere to the Code of Conduct of the Kingdom published within the "Constitution" located at all times for review on our website. I understand also that my membership in the Kingdom of Valinor relies on my continued adherence to our Constitutions codes. I further understand that additions and alterations in these policies may occur in the course of my participation as a member of Valinor. I understand that my membership in the Kingdom of Valinor is permanently subject to my adherence to these Codes of Conduct. I have read and understand the codes of the Kingdom of Valinor outlined in the "Constitution". I understand additional updates will be published and provided to me. In signing this document I agree to adhere to the Codes of Conduct as defined by the "Constitution" section and subsequent releases embodied in our amendments.
- I understand that the legislative body of the Kingdom of Valinor, known hereafter as the Council , is composed of those members who have held office through appointment as described in the "Ranks" section of the Constitution. This body is chaired by no less than 3 Officers appointed to office by the Constable." Only the Officers, and the Constable, may propagate legislation in the assembly of the Council. Only by a division (vote) of the Council and ratification by the Constable or his representative (the "Envoy") may new legislation be adopted into the Constitution.
- I understand that my membership in the Kingdom of Valinor entitles me to various rights. These are as outlined in the various sections of the Constitution. In return for my participation, my adherence to the rules set in place by the Constitution, and to any amendment made hereafter, I may expect assistance and instruction with combat training, armor construction, and weapon construction. This assistance is extended by the Kingdom of Valinor on behalf of all new members. In providing this assistance the time and energy (and often money) of the Kingdom of Valinor’s members are extended to bestow numerous advantages upon a new member.
- In the past, numerous opportunists have undertaken to become a member of Valinor purely for the purpose of obtaining member’s assistance and instruction with items of a war gaming nature. Upon receiving this instruction, these people then chose to forsake the Kingdom, leaving with the advantages that membership had provided to them intact. These advantages include not only armor, weapons, and costuming but training in their construction and design representing years of development and research. Relying upon the honor of said individuals has left the Kingdom of Valinor with no legal recourse save violation of a loose verbal contract. This written contract rectifies this problem:
- I understand that any item acquired or assembled by me or for me, while a member of the Kingdom of Valinor, of a war gaming nature that reflects upon Valinor in any manner will be forfeit to the Kingdom of Valinor in the event my membership is either revoked or voluntarily withdrawn by me. Items of a war gaming nature shall include all articles containing Valinor’s Realm colors or heraldry. Any items that contain or resemble the colors and/or symbols of a unit of Valinor are also subject to confiscation.

I further declare that any items of a war gaming nature as defined above acquired or assembled by me or for me with or without assistance from my fellow members of the Kingdom of Valinor will from this day forward be forfeit to the Kingdom of Valinor in the event my membership is either revoked or voluntarily withdrawn.
